Really Good Timing

The orange Butterfly is a "Julia" and the Black & Green is a "Malachite".
Yesterday we took the M&M's (Mary and MaryAnn((Bob's mom and her friend)) ) to the Desert Botanical Garden. Our timing could not have been better. We arrived at the Butterfly exhibit just in time to help release new Butterflies. They are shipped from Florida in these envelopes which look like wax paper. They are kept at 50 degrees since Butterflies do not fly below 60 degrees. These little envelopes were stacked side by side in a box. I would have thought they would be squished but they were not. We were each given an envelope with instructions as how to open them. When the Butterflies warm up, they fly away. We do not remember the name of this one but were told that it is rare.

The Buckeye Butterfly

This is two Butterflies next to each other with their wings closed. They are the same type as in the first picture.
My thought is that they were seperated during shipping and are happy to have found each other again.

Texas Hold'Em

I am a Big Winner! Last night I (Lori)played Texas hold'Em for the 3rd time EVER and I took 5th place out of 41 players. I guess I am still running on beginners luck. It was a bit scary to move to the final table of 10 players.
It cost me $5 to play and I won $15. I played for 3 1/2 hours.

Happy Hour at Towerpoint Resort

Here's my mom & dad & I drinking Green beer at Happy Hour and mine is looking a little low.
The band was great yesterday. They played all 50's & 60's music. Bob and I had fun dancing.

This is a new record since I have been here. I was impressed 2 weeks ago when this guy was carrying 7 beers. Then last week he had about 9. Yesterday he had 15 beers. As you can see there were an assortment of regular and green beers. I wonder if his friends tipped him. I also wondered if his shirt smelled of beer last night.

More Line Dancing. I am having tons of FUN!!
It was hot out, mid 80's. So after Happy Hour we headed home for a shower before the Texas Hold'Em Game. It was my second time playing. There were 2 games going on. One was for the top 10 money winners of the year. My parents friend Denice was sitting at that table.
Then there were 39 other players in regular play. We were spread out over 4 other tables. My mom, dad, Bob, and I were each at different tables. Well out of those 39 people I placed 8th which isn't really a place since it paid out to the top 7 winners. I was still proud of how well I hung in there for my $5 buy in. We had 2 of our group in the money so we headed to Applebees to celebrate. We didn't get home until 12:30 this morning!!!!
You just would not have quessed that these older folks can party like this. Well it is just a glimpse into the future and I'm liking what it looks like.

St. Patty's Day

Today there was a St. Patty's Day Parade through our park followed by corned beef and cabbage. Now remember that the park is a 55+ park.

Here is Bob at Bingo sitting next to his mom Maryann. Her friend Mary is across from Bob. They are here from Michigan until the 31st. It is 6:30 PM and the outside temp is 78.
Here's my moms table at Bingo. Just quessing, I would say there are about 500 people at Bingo.
Bob is currently over at Poker (Texas Holdem) with my parents. Once again if any of them win we will be going out for appetizers and cocktails at 10:00 PM. I am already tired from my day of working out, the pool, lunch, and Bingo and they may make me go party after hours! I did play Texas Holdem last Thursday for the first time. THey play from 6:00-9:35 and I stayed in until after 8:00 so that was pretty good for my first time. I may play tomorrow if I'm not too happy after the Thursday Happy Hour.

It is soooo good to be warm

Hi Friends,

We left home on the 18th of February. We spent several days at Lorla's in St. George where my brother joined us. We also spent some time with Nick in St. George. It was so good to be on the road and to see family and friends.
Next we went to JB's in Henderson Nevada to see the family. Ian was in Washington DC on a school government trip so we did not get to see him. We went to Alex's Rugby Practice and then we were lucky to see Alex perform for a younger scout troop doing magic. He is amazing. Tea lost a permanent tooth jumping on the tramp but has recovered.
When we left Vegas, we went to Parker Az where the temp finally came close to 70. We were on the Colorado River which was beautiful. We got together with our friends Jim & Elke who were camped less than 4 miles up the road from us. After that we stayed a couple nights at Rusty & Nancy's in Cave Creek Az.

We arrived in Mesa at Towerpoint Resort on the 1st of March. Bob immediately got picked up by the tennis team and is currently playing in the park tournament. My dad is also playing tennis and today he was playing at another park in a tournament. The activities here are endless. We are getting a workout in everyday and the facilities are awesome. Every Thursday there are free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres so we will definitely be attending this afternoon. My parents said we need to show up early to get a good table. There is a huge courtyard near the pool where music plays all day. This is were we will be. Tonight Bob and my parents will play Texas Holdem and I will go play cribbage. You wouldn't believe how much is going on here unless you see it yourself. If the parents, Bob, or my parents friends win at Texas Holdem then we all go to Applebees for 1/2 price cocktails & appetizers after the game which means 10:00. They won't let me go in my jammies. How can these older folks stay up so much later than me???
There are two pools here and I'm thinking of heading over there next to read my book or maybe a better idea would be to take a nap so I can stay up with the senior crowd tonight.

It is currently 72 and it's not even noon yet. I love it!!!

We love and miss you all
