Hot Springs at Gila Cliff Dwellings

5/11/09
We drove to the Cliff Dwellings via State Road 15. It is a extremely windy road. We rarely went faster than 20 mph. Just before we arrived at the Visitor Center, we ran into Tom again. He had been in the visitor center and talked to the Ranger there. He found out there was a natural Hot Spring on the Middle Fork of the Gila River which was the path he was taken.
Bob and I hiked with him to the Hot Spring and after he left we got in. This was some extremely hot water. we were only able to sit in one of the pools but it was great fun. Everytime the river runs heavy, they get washed out and need to be redone. As you can see this just consists of making borders with larger stones.
This is the first water (Gila River) that we have seen in New Mexico.
